Test

Pretotyping

In this phase, I followed a two-step validation process to test the 'Feel the Stars' app. For the 1st process, I have used the Fake Front Door and Mechanical Turk Pretotype method which follows the principles of the book, 'The Right It Model by Alberto Savoia'. Secondly, I performed usability testing with 5 users to understand the overall experience of the app.

Experiment Methods Used
Fake Front Door Pretotype

As the name the suggests, a fake website was created for the promotion of 'Feel the Stars and was showcased on social media platforms as an advertisement. The goal was to receive as many early birds sign ups to fulfill the risky assumption mentioned above.

Mechanical Turk Pretotype

This pretotype method involves a manual version of the app focusing on the main purpose of what the app does. By sending Google forms individually to users and taking their feedback, the goal was to gather quantitative data based on their responses to fulfill the risky assumption mentioned above.

But, why use these methods?
I utilized these methods from the 'Right It' book because they provide a practical way to test and validate ideas before fully investing in them. These methods allow me to create low-cost, simplified versions of a product or feature, helping me gather valuable feedback from users.

Risky Assumption 1

Users will be interested in a zodiac based meditation application

XYZ Statement

At least 3 out of 10 users will sign up for the zodiac based meditation app over the course of 10 days.

Fake Front Door

I will use the “Fake Front Door Pretotype” to create Instagram ads and posters with a QR code that would lead them to the branded website where they can sign up for the application.

Feel The Stars

Using Instagram & a Physical Poster to promote the Fake website

I made a strategic use of Instagram to promote my website, sharing its link through stories and motivating users to sign up. Crafting 10 social media posts for both Instagram and Facebook, I attracted 60 followers, generating early enthusiasm and engagement.

Secondly I created a poster and put it in my university to promote my app and get users.

Feedback from Users

To prove this assumption of users being able to understand the meditation, I personally messaged them on Whatsapp three google forms.

One was for finding out their zodiac signs, then sending their recommended zodiac meditation and lastly a feedback form to know their experience.

Usability Testing

I conducted a hands-on study with 5 participants to assess the app's usability. The primary goal was to explore how well users could navigate the app with minimal frustration while completing 6 specific tasks.

I individually evaluated each participant, considering their ease and confidence scores. I documented their feedback to inform enhancements in the app's user interface (UI) design, aiming to create a more user-friendly experience.
